Have you tried to pre-order the new ps5 like I did? I failed miserably; the per-order season was messy right. After the pre-orders, Sony has announced that there will be no PlayStation 5 available for walk in purchase on the launch date. That clearly means you don’t need to stand on a line waiting for hours to buy the device. The company shared the news via tweets and blog posts. So that no die hard gamer will stand outside the store to get the new PS5 first.
Sony’s Sid Shuman wrote in the blog post – “All day-of launch sales will be conducted through the online stores of our retail partners”.
He also mentioned- “No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12th or November 19th, depending on your region) — please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase. Be safe, stay home, and place your order online”.
Per-ordered PlayStation 5
So what about the per-orders which people already made for pickups on the launch date? Well, if you have already preordered a PlayStation 5 with any of the retailers like GameStop, Target, or Best Buy then you will definitely riding the console to your home. If you have the confirmation of successfully placed order then you can straight away go to the stores and pick up the console on the launch date. The online sale is only set up to take preventive measures against COVID-19 by Sony.
Sony’s announcement technically applies only to the launch day of sale. We don’t have any information on consoles raking on the stores so that people can buy it from regular retail stores yet.
All the major retailers are planning to organize sales so that things do not get messy unlike the per-order sessions. Even Walmart is planning to have 4 windows of sales timed at 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and 9pm. All the online stores (including the Digital Edition PS5) are on target to hit the November 12th launch.
