On October 13 Apple launches its very own iPhone 12 series with 5G. Here 5G network was the main highlight of the show because it’s the first line of iPhones that supports 5G. Further, there are a lot more features in this new line of iPhones that Apple introduced in the event. We are now only focusing on iPhone 12 only.

This event was the biggest so far, and the best thing happened in 2020 during this current Corona Virus pandemic. So what do we know about the iPhone 12 till now let me summarize it for you?

The latest update in the new iPhones is the original design. Now we have flat edges rather than rounded edges. Flat edge design was introduced in iPhone 4 and 5, and now again we have flat edges on the new iPhones. However, the iPhone 6 has rounded edges, and the trend continues until the iPhone 11 series.

At the front notch, we have a TrueDepth Camera, speaker, and microphone altogether. The phone has slim bezel on edge, which looks great. The new design seems to have a good grip while holding and less slippery.

The aluminium frame with the all-glass panel in front and back, which features a matte design. The phone measures 146.70 x 71.50 x 7.40mm (h x w x t) and weighs 164.00 grams. The SIM slot has moved to the left side of the phone, and at the bottom, we have speaker holes and built-in microphones. At the back of the iPhone, we have a dual-lens square shape camera and flash.

This year Apple has all the new iPhones with the OLED super Retina XDR display. The phone comes with a 6.10-inch display with a resolution of 1170×2532 pixels at a pixel density of 460 PPI. The screen looks bright and have all the natural colors emerging out.

With all this, we have a new ceramic shield in the display which offers four times drop protection, unlike previous phones. This ceramic coating is made by infusing nano-ceramic crystals to improve the durability of the phone. The ceramic shield is more rigid than ever and protects the screen from everyday wear, tear, and scratches.

The new A14 Bionic chip was built with a smaller 5-nanometer process. It improves the speed and efficiency of the phone. The A14 features 11.8 billion transistors that are 40 percent more transistors. Having more transistors means better battery life and faster performance.

The iPhone 12 has 4GB RAM, and overall it is the fastest iPhone till now. There are a lot of other factors that help to improve the performance of the phone, but we will not dive into that now.

As far as the camera is concerned, we have a dual-lens one with 12MP Camera with f/1.6 aperture and another 12-megapixel Ultra-Wide camera with an f/2.4 aperture which is best for taking artistic landscapes pictures.

Talking about the front camera, we have some new features called TrueDepth. Also, it’s the first time a night mode is introduced to the front cam, which enables excellent night-time selfies.

Some other features include Deep Fusion, Smart HDR 3. Deep Fusion introduces more color to and texture in low light scenes. Smart HDR 3 improves highlights, shadows, white balance, and contouring for more natural colors into images.

The main factor is the battery; we have seen most of the iPhone users who are frustrated with their phone battery because it drops down quickly. With the new iPhone, the battery life is offering up to 17 hours of video playback and up to 65 hours of audio playback.

The iPhone 12 supports fast charging and can charge up to 50 percent within 30 minutes using a Lightning to USB-C cable and a 20W power adapter.

Since we are talking about adapters, Apple says due to environmental benefits the adapters and earphones are not included in the box.

Should you upgrade to iPhone 12?

Every time a new phone comes in the market, we always think is it worth upgrading now or not? Since you have read the summary of the new phone and you now know that the new phone is faster and efficient. Also, the 5G network was introduced, and the whole Apple event revolved around 5G networks as it was the main highlight. Still, should you buy it or not?

In my opinion, I can see that the 5G network is just introduced and is not available everywhere. So if you own any 11 series or X, XR, XS you should wait for a year, and till then you might see 13 or 14 series iPhone which will have 5G too along with other better features. That will be a better deal because 11 series or 10 series are still rugged phones and to wait is best for you unless you have a lot of money or you are a big fan and want to check out the new phone, then you should go ahead.

If you own the 8 series or lower then directly go ahead and upgrade your devices and get one of the best premium phones in the market with great features and excellent performance.

Environment Benefits

I didn’t liked the idea of removing the charging brick and the earphones for environmental benefits. I mean seriously you are eliminating 2 essential accessories from the box, and still, the price is the same. It is baseless because Apple says over 700 million people have Ear Pods in the world, and 2 billion power adapters. So if people are already using their old adapters and earphones for their new phones, then Apple should compensate the prices for being fair or else keeping it as it is and provide the adapters with the same prices.

Let me know what is your review about the new iPhones and will you advise your friends to buy one? I’d love to hear from you in the comment section.
